Xarelto

Description

Xarelto is a medication that contains the active ingredient rivaroxaban, which belongs to a class of drugs known as anticoagulants or blood thinners. Xarelto works by helping to prevent the formation of harmful blood clots in your blood vessels, reducing the risk of stroke, deep vein thrombosis (DVT), and pulmonary embolism. This medication is suitable for individuals who need to lower their risk of blood clots due to conditions like atrial fibrillation, recent hip or knee replacement surgery, or deep vein thrombosis.

Your dosage of Xarelto will depend on your specific medical condition. Typically, the recommended dose for preventing blood clots after hip or knee replacement surgery is 10 mg once daily. For stroke prevention in atrial fibrillation, the usual dose is 20 mg once daily with the evening meal. It's important to take Xarelto as prescribed by your healthcare provider and do not exceed the recommended dose. If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it's almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule.
