Trisequens is a hormone replacement therapy containing two female hormones, estradiol and norethisterone. Estradiol is a form of estrogen, and norethisterone is a progestogen. This combination helps relieve symptoms of menopause, such as hot flashes, night sweats, and vaginal dryness. Trisequens is suitable for women experiencing menopausal symptoms who have not had a hysterectomy.
You should take one tablet of Trisequens each day for 28 days. After finishing a pack, you should start a new pack the following day without a break. Each tablet is marked with the day of the week to help you remember. If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember, but do not take a double dose to make up for the missed one. The effects of Trisequens last throughout the 28-day cycle. If you experience any unusual symptoms or if you forget to take your tablets for several days, consult your healthcare provider.
Each tablet of Trisequens contains 2 mg of estradiol and 1 mg of norethisterone. The excipients include lactose, maize starch, povidone, magnesium stearate, talc, macrogol 6000, and hypromellose.
Common side effects of Trisequens may include breast pain, headache, nausea, and breakthrough bleeding. Serious side effects that require immediate medical attention include chest pain, sudden shortness of breath, visual disturbances, and severe allergic reactions.
Do not use Trisequens if you have a history of breast cancer, blood clots, or liver disease. Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should not use Trisequens. If you have a history of heart disease, stroke, or are on medications like blood thinners, speak to your doctor before starting Trisequens.
