Nexium

For adults, the typical dosage of Nexium for treating acid reflux and GERD is 20-40 mg once daily. You should take Nexium at least one hour before a meal. Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water; do not crush or chew it. If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule. Do not exceed the recommended dosage and frequency. Each Nexium tablet contains 20 mg or 40 mg of esomeprazole magnesium. Serious side effects that require immediate medical attention include severe stomach pain, unusual tiredness, irregular heartbeat, muscle cramps, seizures, or signs of a severe allergic reaction such as rash, itching/swelling (especially of the face/tongue/throat), severe dizziness, or trouble breathing.

Before taking Nexium, inform your healthcare provider if you are allergic to esomeprazole or any other medications. Avoid using Nexium if you are taking medications like atazanavir or nelfinavir.
