Maxolon (metoclopramide)

Description

Maxolon contains the active ingredient metoclopramide, which is commonly used to treat conditions like nausea, vomiting, and reflux. It works by helping your stomach empty more quickly and reducing nausea. This medication is suitable for adults who experience these symptoms due to various reasons like migraines, chemotherapy, or surgery recovery.  

Dosage and usage

For adults, the typical dosage of Maxolon is 10 mg taken up to three times a day before meals. The maximum dose should not exceed 30 mg in 24 hours. If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it's almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose. If you have any concerns about your dosage, consult your healthcare provider.

Each Maxolon tablet contains 10 mg of metoclopramide as the active ingredient. The tablet also includes excipients such as maize starch, povidone, magnesium stearate, and lactose.  

Side effects

Common side effects of Maxolon may include drowsiness, restlessness, and diarrhea. Serious side effects that require immediate medical attention include muscle stiffness, uncontrolled movements, or signs of an allergic reaction like rash, itching, swelling, or difficulty breathing.  

Precautions

Do not take Maxolon if you have a history of seizures, pheochromocytoma, or gastrointestinal obstruction. This medication is not suitable for children. If you have certain conditions like Parkinson's disease or are taking medications like sedatives or opioids, speak to your doctor before using Maxolon to avoid potential interactions.
