Hydroxyzine

Description

Hydroxyzine is an antihistamine that helps to relieve symptoms of itching, hives, and anxiety. It contains the active ingredient hydroxyzine hydrochloride, which works by blocking histamine that your body produces during an allergic reaction. This medication is suitable for adults and children for managing itching and anxiety symptoms.

Dosage and usage

For itching, the usual dose for adults is 25mg 3 to 4 times daily. For anxiety, the dose may vary but is typically 50-100mg daily in divided doses. It's important not to exceed the recommended dose. Hydroxyzine can cause drowsiness, so avoid activities requiring mental alertness. If you experience any unusual symptoms or side effects, contact your doctor immediately.

Each tablet contains 25mg of hydroxyzine hydrochloride as the active ingredient. Other ingredients include lactose, microcrystalline cellulose, colloidal silicon dioxide, magnesium stearate, and other excipients.

Common side effects of hydroxyzine may include drowsiness, dry mouth, and blurred vision. Serious side effects such as seizures, irregular heartbeat, or difficulty breathing require immediate medical attention. If you notice any signs of an allergic reaction like rash, itching, swelling, or difficulty breathing, seek medical help promptly.

Do not use hydroxyzine if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or have a known allergy to any of its ingredients.
