You should take Galvus as directed by your healthcare provider. The usual dose is 50 mg taken twice a day, with or without food. Your doctor may adjust the dose based on your individual needs. It is important not to exceed the recommended dose. If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember unless it is almost time for your next dose. Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one.
Each Galvus tablet contains 50 mg of Vildagliptin as the active ingredient. The tablet core consists of microcrystalline cellulose, croscarmellose sodium, and magnesium stearate. The film-coating contains hypromellose, titanium dioxide (E171), macrogol, talc, and iron oxide yellow (E172).
Common side effects of Galvus may include headache, dizziness, and upper respiratory tract infection. Serious side effects that require immediate medical attention include signs of pancreatitis such as severe stomach pain, which may radiate to the back, with or without vomiting. Allergic reactions to Galvus are rare but seek medical help if you experience symptoms such as rash, itching/swelling (especially of the face/tongue/throat), severe dizziness, or trouble breathing.
You should not take Galvus if you are allergic to Vildagliptin or any of the other ingredients in the product. It is important to inform your doctor about any medical conditions you have, especially pancreatitis or heart problems. Galvus may not be suitable for pregnant or breastfeeding women.
