Dovonex

Description

Dovonex is a medication containing calcipotriol, a synthetic form of vitamin D. It is used to treat psoriasis by slowing down the rapid growth of skin cells and reducing inflammation. If you're struggling with psoriasis, especially on your scalp or body, Dovonex could be a suitable treatment option for you.  

Dosage and usage

Apply a thin layer of Dovonex to the affected areas once daily. Avoid using more than 100g of Dovonex per week. The effects of Dovonex may take a few weeks to become noticeable. If you experience any skin irritation or your condition worsens, stop using Dovonex and consult your healthcare provider.  

What Dovonex contains

Each gram of Dovonex ointment contains 50 micrograms (0.05 mg) of calcipotriol as the active ingredient. The excipients include disodium edetate, liquid paraffin, propylene glycol, and white soft paraffin.  

Side effects

Common side effects of Dovonex include skin irritation, redness, and itching. Serious side effects such as severe skin reactions or allergic reactions are rare but may require immediate medical attention. If you experience any unusual symptoms, seek medical help promptly.  

Precautions

Do not use Dovonex if you are allergic to calcipotriol or any other ingredients in the ointment. Avoid contact with your face, eyes, mouth, and genitals when applying Dovonex. If you have a history of kidney stones or high levels of calcium in your blood, consult your doctor before using this medication. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should also seek medical advice before using Dovonex.
