Oxybutynine (Ditropan)

Description

Ditropan contains the active ingredient oxybutynin, which belongs to a group of medications called antispasmodics. It works by relaxing the bladder muscles to help control symptoms of overactive bladder, such as frequent urination, urgency, and incontinence. Ditropan is suitable for individuals who experience these bladder issues due to conditions like neurogenic bladder dysfunction or idiopathic detrusor overactivity.

You should take Ditropan exactly as prescribed by your healthcare provider. The typical starting dose is 5 mg two to three times a day. Your doctor may adjust your dosage based on your response to the medication. The maximum recommended dose is 20 mg daily. It's important not to exceed this dose unless directed by your doctor. If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule. Do not double up on doses to make up for a missed one.

Do not use Ditropan if you are allergic to oxybutynin or any other ingredients in the medication. Inform your doctor of any medical conditions you have, especially if you have glaucoma, liver or kidney disease, or myasthenia gravis. Ditropan may worsen these conditions. Tell your doctor about all the medications you are taking, including prescription, over-the-counter, and herbal products. Certain medications may interact with Ditropan, especially other anticholinergic drugs or potassium tablets/capsules. It's important to follow your doctor's advice closely to ensure the safe and effective use of Ditropan.
