Betnovate is a topical corticosteroid cream used to treat various skin conditions like eczema and psoriasis. It contains the active ingredient betamethasone valerate, which helps reduce redness, swelling, and itching on your skin. Betnovate is suitable for adults and children over the age of one.

Dosage and usage

For adults and children, apply a thin layer of Betnovate to the affected area once or twice daily as prescribed by your healthcare provider. Do not cover the treated area with a bandage unless directed by your doctor. Avoid using Betnovate on your face for prolonged periods. If you forget a dose, apply it as soon as you remember. However, if it's almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one. Do not exceed the recommended dosage.

What Betnovate contains

Each gram of Betnovate cream contains 1 mg of betamethasone valerate (equivalent to 1.2 mg of betamethasone). The other ingredients include cetostearyl alcohol, chlorocresol, white soft paraffin, liquid paraffin, sodium acid phosphate, phosphoric acid, and purified water.

Common side effects of Betnovate may include itching, burning, dryness, or redness at the application site. Serious side effects that require immediate medical attention include thinning skin, stretch marks, changes in skin color, or allergic reactions like rash, itching, swelling, severe dizziness, or trouble breathing.

Do not use Betnovate if you are allergic to any of its ingredients. Avoid applying it to broken or infected skin, acne, rosacea, or nappy rash. Tell your doctor if you have diabetes, immune system problems, or are pregnant or breastfeeding. If you experience worsening symptoms or no improvement after a few weeks of use, consult your healthcare provider.
