Bactroban

For adults and children, apply a small amount of Bactroban to the affected area three times a day. Make sure to wash and dry the area before applying the cream. Do not cover the treated area with a bandage unless instructed by your doctor. If you forget a dose, apply it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose. The effects of Bactroban can usually be seen within a few days of starting treatment. If your symptoms do not improve or worsen, contact your healthcare provider.

Each gram of Bactroban contains 20 mg of mupirocin in a cream base of polyethylene glycol and mineral oil.

Common side effects of Bactroban may include burning, stinging, or itching at the application site. Serious side effects such as severe allergic reactions are rare but may occur. If you experience swelling of the face, tongue, or throat, difficulty breathing, or severe rash, seek immediate medical attention.

Do not use Bactroban if you are allergic to mupirocin or any other ingredients in the cream. Avoid contact with your eyes, nose, mouth, or any open wounds. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, consult your doctor before using Bactroban. Inform your healthcare provider about any other medications you are taking to avoid potential interactions.
