Azyter is an antibiotic eye drop solution containing the active ingredient azithromycin. It is used to treat bacterial conjunctivitis by fighting off the bacteria causing the infection in your eyes. Azyter is suitable for adults and children over the age of 1 year.

Dosage and usage

For adults and children over 1 year old, the usual dosage is one drop in the affected eye(s) twice a day for three days. Avoid contact with soft contact lenses. If you wear contact lenses, remove them before using Azyter and wait for at least 15 minutes before reinserting them. If you forget a dose, apply it as soon as you remember, and then continue with your regular dosing schedule. Do not exceed the recommended dosage. If you experience any new symptoms or your condition worsens, contact your healthcare provider.

Each azyter single-dose container contains 0.3% azithromycin dihydrate (equivalent to 3 mg azithromycin). the solution also includes excipients: poloxamer, polycarbophil, mannitol, sodium dihydrogen phosphate dihydrate, disodium phosphate dodecahydrate, and purified water.

Side effects

Common side effects of Azyter may include eye irritation, eye pain, eye discomfort, and eye pruritus. Serious side effects requiring immediate medical attention may include severe eye pain, worsening redness or swelling of the eye, or changes in vision. If you experience any of these serious side effects, seek medical help promptly.

Avoid using Azyter if you are allergic to azithromycin or any other ingredients in the product. Do not use Azyter if you have a viral or fungal eye infection. If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or have any underlying medical conditions, consult your healthcare provider before using Azyter. If you are using other eye drops or ointments, wait at least 5 minutes between applying each product. If you experience any allergic reactions or unexpected symptoms, stop using Azyter and seek medical advice immediately.
