Atovaquone-Proguanil

Description

Atovaquone Proguanil is a medication that combines two active ingredients, atovaquone, and proguanil, which work together to prevent and treat malaria. Atovaquone interferes with the reproduction of parasites in the body, while proguanil prevents the growth of parasites in the liver. This combination is suitable for individuals traveling to malaria-endemic areas and looking for effective protection against the disease.

Dosage and usage

For malaria prevention, the typical adult dosage is one Atovaquone Proguanil tablet once a day, starting one or two days before entering the malaria area, continuing throughout the stay, and for seven days after leaving. Remember to take the tablet with food or a milky drink to improve absorption. It's important not to exceed the recommended dose, as it won't provide additional protection. If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember, unless it's almost time for your next dose. In case of vomiting within 1 hour of taking a dose, take another tablet.
