Actonel

Description

Actonel is a medication that helps treat osteoporosis by slowing down bone loss and increasing bone mass. The active ingredient in Actonel is risedronate sodium. It works by inhibiting the cells that break down bone, helping to strengthen your bones and reduce the risk of fractures. Actonel is suitable for individuals who have osteoporosis or are at risk of developing it due to various factors like menopause, steroid use, or certain medical conditions.

Dosage and usage

You should take Actonel exactly as prescribed by your healthcare provider. The usual dosage is one tablet once a week, preferably on the same day each week. It's essential to take Actonel on an empty stomach with a full glass of plain water to ensure proper absorption. Remember not to lie down for at least 30 minutes after taking the tablet. If you forget to take a dose, take it the next morning. Do not take two tablets on the same day. If you experience difficulty swallowing, chest pain, or heartburn, contact your doctor. Actonel's effects last for a week, so missing a dose can affect your treatment.
